Dr. Thomas Sternfeld
Thomas Sternfeld studied medicine at the Free University of (West) Berlin, where he wrote his doctoral thesis on intestinal cancer and was awarded the title ‘Doctor of Medicine’ in 2002. His interest in research and medical discoveries led him to further his medical education at different clinics in South Africa, Great Britain, and Switzerland, among others. He was a resident at the famous University College in London in 2002, where he deepened his knowledge of infectious diseases, like HIV. Then he continued his work in the Department of Infectious Diseases at the Ludwig-Maximilian University (LMU) in Munich. He was registered as a specialist for internal medicine and infectious diseases in 2006.
In 2007 Dr. Sternfeld became head of the outpatient clinic for infectious diseases at the Clinic “Rechts der Isar” of the Technical University in Munich, where he furthered his medical education in the fields of gastroenterology and hepatology. In 2009 he was registered as a gastroenterologist.
Dr. Sternfeld was involved in the construction and coordination of a network to care for cancer patients in the district of Landshut. His team was awarded the Bavarian Health Prize for their work in this field in 2011. He completed his training in hematology and oncology at the LMU Clinic in Munich (Department of hematology and oncology) in 2012. He has been registered as a medical specialist in the fields of hematology and oncology since 2013.
Medicine is a matter of both heart and mind for Dr. Sternfeld. He desires to place his comprehensive knowledge at the disposal of his patients. His experience in palliative care has enabled him to deal with delicate human and medical situations in a quiet, respectful manner. Not only his patients profit from this. His position as coordinator and vanguard has enabled him to campaign for improved medical care.
