Dr. Angelika Sternfeld

Angelika Sternfeld was born in Landshut and began her medical education at the Ludwig-Maximilian University (LMU) in Munich. She acquired experience in modern medical care and therapeutic procedures at famous international medical institutions, like the Harvard Medical School (USA) and the University of Melbourne (Australia). Besides her work with patients, Angelika Sternfeld devoted herself to research on tumor cells. She wrote her doctoral thesis about cancer research at the LMU in 2000.

Searching for a challenging and comprehensive specialty, she decided on internal medicine. She received her accreditation as an internist in 2010. From 2004 to 2013 she worked as a resident at the LMU clinic. She furthered her medical training there and was awarded the title of diabetologist in 2010 and registration as an endocrinologist in 2013.

For a long time she worked on the hospital ward for diabetology and endocrinology, as well as in the LMU outpatient clinic for diabetology and endocrinology. Aside from caring for patients with types 1 and 2 diabetes mellitus (DM), she was also responsible for patients with diabetes in pregnancy and patients with type 1 DM before and after receiving a kidney or pancreas transplant. As an endocrinologist, she mainly treated patients with diseases of the thyroid gland, the adrenal glands, and the pituitary gland, as well as holding consultations for patients with osteoporosis and hypertension.

Angelika Sternfeld’s comprehensive knowledge and wide experience in dealing with patients are reflected in the book “Anamnese und körperliche Untersuchng” (Anamnesis and Physical Examination), which she wrote with a colleague (Seiderer-Nack). This is a medical textbook about diagnosis, clinical work, and doctor-patient relationships. Patients appreciate her clear and warm-hearted approach and her ability to help patients and their relatives understand complex issues. “I want to help people, and it is my goal to achieve this by sensitively applying the most modern scientific knowledge and modern technology available,” declares Angelika Sternfeld.
